Show Me Your Nudes, Colourpop!

Do these actually all count as nudes? Probably not. But I have to tell you, I absolutely love these.. What do you actually call them? They’re called Ultra Matte Lips, but are they lipstick? I mean, they aren’t a stick, they’re a doe foot applicator. Whatever. Colourpop is possibly the best deal ever. These are $6.00, the quality is amazing, the lasting power is to beat, and they have endless color options. These colors are my favorites at the moment. Midi, the second lightest color, is the perfect nude for my skin tone. All of the shades are perfect for day or night, summer or winter. I just LOVE them. If you want to purchase your own, be sure you use the $5.00 coupon you get when you subscribe to their email list, and try Vice, Midi, Echo Park, or Lumiere 2.

Sunny Summer Lip Colors

Lipstick is basically magic. It can transform an entire look in just a few seconds. From day to night, fun to professional, drab to fab, lipstick can do it all. With every season comes new makeup, but it also means taking a look at the makeup you already have and saying “well that’s clearly a summer color, so I should probably wear it before it goes back to being a clown color.” Clowns are the worst.

All good lipsticks require a juicy helping of lip balm first. You should always moisturize your lips before caking on the fish scales (do they still put fish scales in lipstick?). My bestie Anna brought me back this mint balm all the way from Tulum, Mexico. It minty and smooth, not to mention the jar is perfect. But since most of us won’t be going to Tulum to pick up our own anytime soon, I also included my second favorite, Mary Kay’s Satin Lips Lip Balm. Not only does this moisturize, it also adds a light shine, so it’s perfect to wear alone. MK says it lasts for 6 hours, and has vitamin A and E. While $10 might be a little pricey for lip balm, this stuff lasts forever. I mean, I’ve had this tube for like 2 years. I’m not even sure it even has a shelf life.. and if it does, my lips are still in tact, so whatever.

When it comes to lipsticks, I usually lean towards pinks and oranges in the summer. I have some pretty *HELLO LIPSTICK* colors, but those are more special occasion colors for me. These four are my go-tos for every day wear. The first being my all time favorite Kate Moss for Rimmel lipstick in shade #103, which is apparently no longer available.. HOW DARE YOU KATE MOSS?! But there are a bunch of shades in the collection that are very similar. She has an entire nude range now. How do I not have any of those yet?! Second in line is Katy Perry’s Katy Kat Matte for COVERGIRL in Kitty Purry. Obviously I bought this because of my love for Katy Perry and there’s literally cat ears on the packaging, but it turns out to be a great lipstick and color. Very smooth, but does require reapplication. Coming in around $8.00, the quality and packaging make it worth the cost.

Third in my summer lipstick lineup is Pacifica’s Power of Love lipstick in Nudie Red. This is more of a coral color that also transitions great into fall. The muted color allows you to wear a shade of orange without having to commit to a super standout color. I received this tube in an Ipsy bag, but they are available at Target for $10. Lastly, is an oldie but a goodie, which also apparently no longer available (I clearly need to clear out my makeup). COVERGIRL came out with their Whisper line a couple years. They are light coverage/shear lipsticks that give you just a whisper of color. This one is in #60, Petal Rebel.

So now that I’ve realized I need some new lipstick, what colors do you like to wear in the summer? Are you a little more adventurous than I am and just rock neon orange and fashion on the daily? Comment below!

Mascara Must-Haves

Lately I’ve been wearing much less makeup. Brows, mascara, highlighter, lip color, done. I mean, I’m unofficially working from home right now, so it seems better for my skin to let it breathe for a while. But, if I’m leaving the house, brows and mascara are 100% required in my world. These two mascaras have been my go-to gals. PÜR’s Big Look Lengthening Mascara goes on first to separate and lengthen. Then, before it dries, I apply COVERGIRL’s Super Sizer to really volumize. I’m not a huge fan of the Super Sizer by itself, but as a second coat, it’s like BAM! LASHES! The prices vary depending on where you purchase these, PÜR looks to be between $18 and $22 (I got mine at Kohl’s), and COVERGIRL between $5 and $7. Also, PÜR appears to have switched packaging, but I believe the formula is still the same.

What are your favorite mascaras this summer? Leave a comment below so I know what to pick up next!

Travel Beauty Products

The past week has been a whirlwind of traveling, paint, and family time. I am thrilled to finally be able to say WE GOT THE HOUSE! It became official this morning. This afternoon we are going to start painting, and hopefully by the weekend we can start to move in. My blog might be a little more quiet until September with the house and school starting, but I will try and keep up the best I can.

Instead of a Weekend Wrap-Up I am going to share the beauty products I brought with me on our short vacation to Michigan. I was hopeful we would be spending a lot of time in the sun, but the Upper Peninsula had been cold and cloudy the days before we arrived. Our wishes were fulfilled! We spend almost all our time outside hiking, and swimming. That being said I wore minimal makeup while we were there, mostly just primer and mascara.
